Search for 2011 Oklahoma slaying evidence turns up items
April 13, 2017
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a search for evidence in the 2011 slaying and dismemberment of a 19-year-old woman has turned up "several items of interest."
The OSBI said in a news release Wednesday that the search of two northwest Oklahoma City yards has ended and the items will be sent to the agency's laboratory for testing and analysis.
The OSBI didn't immediately reveal what was found. Spokeswoman Jessica Brown has said only that the search was for undisclosed evidence in the slaying of Carina Saunders and that ground penetrating radar was being used.
Parts of Saunders' body were found Oct. 13, 2011, in a duffel bag behind a grocery store in the northwest Oklahoma City suburb of Bethany.
Brown said recent tips led investigators to the property.
