A Lahoma woman was listed in stable condition Saturday after her car collided with a semi near Hennessey. Lou Ann Crump, 62, of Lahoma was pinned in her vehicle for approximately 40 minutes and was freed by the Jaws of Life by Hennessey Fire Department. She was transported by Air Evac from the scene to OU Medical in Oklahoma City where she was admitted for head, leg, arm, trunk internal and trunk external injuries.
The semi, a 2018 Peterbilt pulling a tanker trailer caught on fire following the collision and was reported to be fully engulfed in flames by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP). The driver, Jorge M. Cordon Aparicio, 45, of Enid was able to get out of the truck. He was transported by LIFE EMS to Integris Bass Baptist Hospital in Enid where he was treated and released.
The collision occurred at 4:06 p.m. Saturday, April 15, on state Highway 51, one and one-half miles west of U.S. Highway 81, approximately one and four-tenths miles west of Hennessey in Kingfisher County. The OHP reported that Crump was westbound in a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria and the semi was eastbound. Crump's vehicle ran off the roadway to the right, over-corrected left and entered a broad-slide with the passenger side of the car leading. Crump's vehicle then crossed the centerline and struck the semi.
After impact, Crump's vehicle came to rest facing north on the north shoulder. The semi departed the roadway and came to rest on the south shoulder where it caught fire.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Trooper Trent Cagle investigated, assisted by Troopers Tanner Beckner and Seth Sturgeon along with Kingfisher County Sheriff's Office, Hennessey Fire Department and LIFE EMS.
