New council president elected

• Alva City Council new members and city treasurer sworn in

New Alva city elected officials are administered the oath of office during the city council meeting Monday. Standing, from left, are: Daniel Winters, Brandon Sherman, Trent Goss, Chris Eckhardt, Brian Wallis, Bo Hannaford and Mary Hamilton. Administering the oath (at right) is City Attorney Rick Cunningham.

When newly elected council members stood to receive the oath of office, only one council chair was left occupied. Randy Stelling remained in his seat. Bryce Benson was absent for the April 17 meeting. The remaining six council member positions were up for election April 4.

The council first recognized the results of the election and unopposed filings. City Attorney Rick Cunningham administered the oath to Daniel Winters, Chris Eckhardt, Brandon Sherman, Bo Hannaford, Mary Hamilton and Brian Wallis. Trent Goss was also sworn as city treasurer. Wallis was the only new face in the group.
