Music education: more than just notes

 


Having music in our schools is very important, whether it be band or vocal.

“Music education is important because it gives every child a voice and allows them to grow spiritually, mentally and physically. Music exposes students and the community to other cultures and thoughts and creates well-rounded individuals,” said Alva middle and high school Vocal Director Bryce Lewis.

Research shows brain circuits involved in musical improvisation are shaped by efficient training, leading to less reliance on working memory and more extensive connectivity within the brain.
