Woods County commissioners proclaim OHCE Week
May 10, 2017
At their regular Monday meeting, four women representing the Oklahoma Home and Community Education clubs asked the Woods County commissioners to proclaim May 7–13 as OHCE week in Woods County. Commissioner Randy McMurphy read a proclamation describing the positive impact the clubs have brought in Woods County. The four women – Susan Holiday, Joanne Prewett, April Decker and Carolyn Gasaway – also received permission to display 1930s era quilts in the courthouse lobby on May 10.
Two representatives of road-grader firms were present to hear bid-opening numbers. Jason Dougdall of Yellowhouse presented a bid of $203,512 for a model 670G. Doug McDonald of Warren Cat presented a bid of $261,978. Commissioner Randy McMurphy made a motion, seconded by David Hamil, to accept the bid for a Model 140K from Warren Cat because it met the Tier 3 engine specifications and the grader from Yellowhouse did not. The grader will be paid on a five-year amortization schedule.
The commissioners approved a road-crossing permit for Brickman-Fastline between county roads 470 and 480.
An appraisal in the amount of $3,000 by White Valuation Services was accepted for right of way at the Salt Fork River Bridge Project 25493(04).
At the end of the meeting, under new business, Commissioner David Hamil thanked the other commissioners for helping stand in for him. Hamil has missed a couple of meetings because of being in Oklahoma City to help handle the surgery and illness of his wife. He said Laura Beth's recovery is going well.
