OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma County Special Judge Howard Roy Haralson has been appointed to a vacant district judge's position.

Gov. Mary Fallin said Thursday she is appointing Haralson to the judgeship made vacant by the death of former Oklahoma County District Judge Donald Deason last year. Haralson's appointment is effective immediately.

Haralson, of Oklahoma City, has been a special judge since 2010. Before that, he worked 23 years as an attorney representing clients in civil and criminal matters.
