City council to receive NWOSU spring scholarship bill
May 14, 2017
It’s time again for the semi-annual presentation of the scholarship bill from Northwestern Oklahoma State University to the City of Alva. The scholarships are funded by a one-half percent sales tax voted by Alva residents. The presentation will be made Monday at the Alva City Council meeting. The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall.
The council will also be asked to vote on agreements with the Alva Public Schools and Northwest Technology Center to provide a school resource officer for the 2017-2018 school year.
There will be numerous reports from city related meetings held since the last council meeting as well as reports by the mayor and the city business manager.
The Alva Utility Authority and Alva Economic Development Authority meetings will follow. Besides paying the scholarship billing of $273,416.57, the AEDA will discuss and vote on a budget amendment in the amount of $8,532 for increased scholarship expenditures.
