Southern Arkansas post season run comes to an end after 3-4 loss to Winona State in the Central Region Tournament

 


SEARCY, Ark. – The Lady Mulerider softball team's post season run came to an end on Saturday after losing 3-4 to Winona State in the Central Region Tournament.

Winona State Warriors: 51-12

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the bottom of the first inning, SAU scratched the first run of the game and took the early lead as Tyler Casada singled home Jill Roye, who previously singled.

SAU added a pair of runs in the third on a solo blast from Maddie Dow and an RBI single off the bat of Marina Duran to make it 3-0, SAU.

Winona State captured the lead in the next inning after being aided a pair of errors. Three consecutive walks loaded the bases for the Warriors as they proceeded to score their runs on a fielding error, fielder's choice, and a 2 RBI single to make it 4-3, WSU.


SAU put the tying run on in the bottom of that frame, but was unable to pull away with the hit to tie the game.

SAU had the tying run on again in the bottom of the seventh as Jill Roye laced a single to right center, but the Lady Muleriders suffered the loss.

IN THE CIRCLE

Jill Roye suffered the loss in the circle as she allowed four runs on three hits and struck out four.

Victoria came in as relief and struck out four batters in 3.1 innings while only allowing a hit.

AT THE PLATE

Dow had a solo bomb in the game.

Casada was 1-for-3 at the dish with a run scored and an RBI.

Duran was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
