Kiowa City Council discusses USDA loan application for water and generator projects

• 'We need our citizens to help us' to finish LMI surveys to get grants and loans

 


Time is becoming a factor to obtain loan and grant funding for replacement of Kiowa's main water line from the wells near Sharon to Hazelton and then Kiowa. Much of the line is crumbling, cracking or breaking and needs constant repair, costing the City of Kiowa thousands of dollars. Phase I of the project is estimated at $2.3 million.

To fund that type of a project it's vital the city apply for grants and low-interest loans. A requirement of applying for such funding is completion of the low to moderate income (LMI) surveys the city sent out months ago to residents.
