Authorities: Man shot by troopers aimed crossbow at officers

 


WEWOKA, Oklahoma (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Tuesday that troopers shot and killed a 48-year-old man who aimed a loaded crossbow at officers after taking a relative hostage.

Keith Chesser died at an Oklahoma City hospital where he was flown following the shooting Monday afternoon in Wewoka, about 60 miles (95 kilometers) southeast of Oklahoma City, the Highway Patrol said.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office asked for the patrol's assistance after Chesser fled into a detached garage-type building outside a home in Wewoka and took the female relative hostage when deputies arri...
