Spring vocal concert

 


On May 9, Alva high and middle schools had their annual spring concert. The middle school treble, mixed and tenor/bass choirs performed the songs they performed at districts. The AMS Tenor/Bass chorus sang “Open Road” by Laura Farnell and “Sailors' Life for Me” by Mary Donelly. The Alva Middle School Mixed Chorus sang “Laudate Dominum” by Tomas Luis De Victoria and “Who Has the Wind?” arranged by Douglas Wagner. AMS Treble Chorus sand “The Cherry Orchard” arranged by Lou Williams-Wimberly and “J’entends le Moulin” arranged by Emily Crocker. The AMS show choir also performed their show choir set.

AHS also performed the songs they competed with at district, state and tri-state contests. The HS Treble Chorus performed “Mermaid’s Lament” by Joseph Martin and “Ladybird (Katalinka)” by Zoltan Kodaly. Alva High School’s Tenor/Bass Chorus sang “Santa Lucia” arranged by Patti Dewitt and “Loch Lomond” arranged by Greg Gilpin. The AHS Mixed Chorus performed “Salmo 150” by Ernani Aguiar and “I Love You/What A Wonderful World” by Craig Johnson. Electric Gold performed their show choir set as well as “Blue Skies” by Irving Berlin and “Stand By Me” arranged by Mac Huff. The EG seniors, Kimberly Stuck and Mattie Duncan, performed “For Good” by Stephen Schwartz.


“This concert was special to me because it was my last time to perform with some of my best friends. The memories I have made through EG are ones that will last a lifetime,” commented senior Mattie Duncan.

This was the last vocal concert of the 2016-2017 school year.
