Kohannah Robinson, who is coordinator of the Community Resource program at Northwest Family Services, told the Alva Kiwanis Club on Wednesday that there are 11 homeless kids, ages 13 – 18, who live in Alva.
She said, "There are four criteria for a child to fit the homeless criteria. We're not aware of any kids who are living under bridges, but if they are runaway, or couch-surfing from one friend's house to another, or possibly staying briefly with different relatives such as an uncle, aunt and grandparent, but with no permanent home, they fit the government's description of homeless.
