Patchwork Friends OHCE learn about OHCE Emblem and Creed

The Patchwork Friends OHCE group met for their regular meeting on May 11 at the home of Dee Mason. JoAnne Prewett called the meeting to order and Barbara Cue led the group in the flag salute. Devotions were given by the hostess from Jeremiah 29.11. Barbara Cue, Dottie Gatz, April Miller, JoAnne Prewett, Dee Mason and Doris White answered roll call to the question “Do you know the OHCE Creed?”

During OHCE Week, raffle tickets were sold for the quilt donated by Lisa Higgins at the Quilt Display in the Woods County Courthouse. Several quilts were on display, including one from 1932 and the Necktie Quilt loaned by the Helen Thiesing family. Tickets may be purchased from any OHCE member or at Nescatunga on June 3.

The lesson “Interpreting the OHCE Creed and Emblem” was given by Prewett. The group reviewed the creed together. She stated the 77 stars represent the counties in Oklahoma on the emblem. OHCE was established in 1935.

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned. Gatz served a cake dessert. Mason won the door prize. The next meeting will be a covered dish supper at the Alva City Park on June 8.
