Mississippi high school offering an archaeology club

 


BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — A high school in Mississippi is starting an archaeology club for students who dig the past.

The Daily Leader reports (http://bit.ly/2s0Hji2 ) that the club at Brookhaven High will give teenagers a chance to learn about the early history of Mississippi and the region. They will take field trips and hear from guest speakers.

The club will run by the chairwoman of the social studies department, Krista Russell.

She says she recently joined the Mississippi Archaeological Association and attended a Mississippi Delta mound tour led by the state's top archaeologist, Sam Brooks...
