Employment contracts, student transfers on school board agenda

The Alva Board of Education will consider several employment contracts and student transfers during their meeting Monday. The board will meet in the administrative offices at 418 Flynn at 5 p.m.
Employment offers on the agenda include Shane Feely on a prorated principal’s contract for the remainder of the current fiscal year, a certified applicant for extended school year services for the current fiscal year, a certified applicant for a one year temporary contract for extended school year services for FY18, and an applicant for FY18 contingent upon receipt of an Oklahoma Teaching Certificate effective prior to Aug. 14, 2017.
The five open student transfers for the fall include one from Aline-Cleo district, one from Burlington, one from Waynoka and two from Cimarron.
The board will vote several contracts for the next fiscal year including Chas W. Carroll for FY17 audit, Precision Laboratories for asbestos maintenance and the Woods County Commissioners for contract services.
The board will consider approving out of state travel for AHS students to attend Show Choir Camps of America in Illinois.
They will consider a revised extra duty schedule for FY17, revised extra duty assignments for FY17 and a support personnel salary schedule for FY18.
An executive session is scheduled to discuss contracts for the superintendent and assistant superintendent as well as negotiations with the AEA (teachers’ union). Following return to open session, the board will vote on approving contracts for Superintendent Steve Parkhurst and Assistant Superintendent Tim Argo.
