Wildlife Day includes learning and wild caving

 

Greg Highfil, Woods County Extension educator, led 4-H students on a nature tour exploring plant ecosystems and wildlife habitat in the surrounding area of the Alabaster Caverns State Park.

The Woods County OSU Cooperative Extension Service hosted a Wildlife Fun Day, May 31, at Alabaster Caverns State Park. Over 50 4-H youth and adults from Woods, Woodward, Harper and Major counties attended the event.

Terry Swallow, Oklahoma Wildlife Department, gave educational programs on wildlife skins and skulls that could be found in the area. Tandy Keenan gave a presentation on snakes, including a live demonstration. Allison Rakowski, OSU NREM Graduate Student, gave a presentation on turkeys including calls, habitat, physical characteristics and behavior.
