Startup sells beef online direct from Washington-area farms

 


WASHINGTON (AP) — An online startup that sells sustainable beef has expanded its service to Washington, D.C.

WTOP-FM reported on Wednesday (http://bit.ly/2tpfroK ) that Crowd Cow beefed up its reach to the Washington-area and is working with local farms nearby including Virginia ones in Front Royal and Beaverdam.

The less than two-year-old Seattle-based startup uses a crowdfunding model to sell cuts of meat one cow at a time from small farms nationwide. Consumers log on to the company's website and select desired cuts from a featured cow. Once all the "steak holders" have claimed the animal's...
