Two injured in three-vehicle wreck near Fairview

A 64-year-old woman was injured in a three-vehicle collision just south of Fairview Saturday night. The wreck occurred at 8:10 p.m. on State Highway 58 0.3 miles southwest of SH51A in Major County. The location is approximately 4.5 miles south of Fairview.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol report says Katherine M. Baker, 67, of Longdale was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang southbound when she crossed the centerline and struck a 2011 Dodge three-quarter ton truck driven by Matthew Russell Acre, 38, of Fairview.

Baker’s car then spun around in front of a 2008 GMC driven by Mitchell Tyson Nightingale, 30, of Fairview, striking the front of Nightingale’s vehicle. Both Acre and Nightingale were northbound.

Baker was transported by Major County EMS to Fairview Hospital where she was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk external, trunk internal and arm injuries.

Acre was not injured. Nightingale refused treatment at the scene. Passenger Laurie Nightingale, 34, of Fairview was taken by private vehicle to Fairview Hospital where she was treated for head and trunk internal injuries and released. Two four-year-old boys in the Nightingale vehicle were not injured.

The Highway Patrol says Baker was under the influence of medications, which contributed to the collision. All occupants of all vehicles were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper Darrin Lancaster investigated, assisted by Major County Sheriff’s Department, Blaine County Sheriff’s Department, Major County EMS and Fairview Fire Department.
