DENVER (AP) — Colorado has recorded its first human case of West Nile virus this year.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says a resident of Jefferson County was found to have the virus and was recuperating.

In 2016, there were 149 human cases of West Nile virus in Colorado, including eight deaths.

According to the health department, most people who are infected with West Nile virus don't have symptoms. About 20 percent have flu-like symptoms, and fewer than 1 percent develop a serious, potentially deadly illness. People over age 60 and those with certain medical conditio...
