Changes to Alva football field

Lynn L. Martin

Visitors to the Alva High School football field and track will feel much safer while walking down to the field from the north student parking lot. For decades, the walk down the hill for Kiwanis Little Olympics participants and parents has been on gravel that could slip under your feet and land you on your butt. The white area in the picture has now been paved by Integrity General Contracting at a cost of $20,832. The drive is wide enough to permit service trucks to traverse it, but will have some side hand rails also. The next project for the football field is on the west side where there is tiered parking. Metal posts and restraining cables will be able to protect bystanders and nearby objects from a vehicle rolliing from a top tier down to the next tier.
