I’ve received a lot of questions since I’ve been back in House District 58 concerning how lawmakers decide which bills will receive a vote. Many of you have asked about certain bills in particular, so I’d like to walk you through how the voting process works.

A bill is first voted upon in its assigned committee. If it passes, then it is available to be heard in front of all 101 members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Even though a bill may pass its committee, it doesn’t necessarily mean the bill will be heard on the floor of the House.
