Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Hamilton asks how out-of-town food trucks benefit the community. "I'm a shop Alva, buy Alva person," she told the city council Monday.

A question about the growing interest in food trucks came up during the Alva City Council meeting Monday, July 17.

After Dunham's rather gloomy financial report, Councilmember Mary Hamilton said, "We're having all these activities and we're bringing in these food trucks. Are the tourism people making money off of this? If they bring their own food into town, how is that helping Alva?"

Dunham replied, "They're going to be charging sales tax. They remit that back to us through the tax commission. Whether or not it helps out tourism, it would kind of depend on the event. It's more than just the f...
