Officer-killing suspect eludes dozens of police in manhunt

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Police scoured fields, forests, abandoned buildings, homes and even empty school buses Tuesday, hunting for a man accused of gunning down a western Missouri police officer who has eluded authorities for two days.
About 100 local, county and state law enforcement officers have been looking for Ian McCarthy since late Sunday, when he is believed to have shot Clinton police officer Gary Michael who had stopped his car, apparently for a registration violation.
