Group aims to combat opioid epidemic on local scale

MANCHESTER, Vt. (AP) — Residents of a Vermont town who are fed up with the devastating impact of the nationwide opioid epidemic on their community have started an organization to help combat the problem.
The group of Manchester citizens founded Fed Up Manchester last month, aiming to increase awareness, provide support, demand restrictions on opioid prescriptions and expand access to effective opioid addiction treatment. The Bennington Banner reports (http://bit.ly/2vHJUCf ) the group's creation was prompted by a rash of overdoses in Brattleboro and Londonderry in July.
