Nursing home employee charged with abuse

August 27, 2017

A nursing home employee from Cherokee has been charged with abuse by a caretaker.

According to court records, on March 30 Alva Police Officer Timothy Clapp was contacted by Dayna Jordan, head nurse at Beadles Nursing Home in Alva. She asked him to sit in on a meeting with an employee about an incident.

At the nursing home, Clapp made contact with Jordan and the employee, Savanna Lynn Eshleman. Jordan said that on March 28 Eshleman had been working in a resident’s room where the resident had urinated on himself. She said Eshleman took a Snapchat video pointing at the ground and then angling her phone up to show the urine, capturing the resident’s feet and typed the words “WTF (resident’s name).” The Snapchat video was approximately four seconds long and was sent to three or four people. A friend of a fellow coworker received the video causing the coworker to report it to Jordan.

Jordan told Clapp that before his arrival Eshleman admitted to her about taking the video and sending it to multiple people.

Savanna Lynn Eshleman, 19, of Cherokee has been charged in Woods County court with abuse by caretaker, a felony. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years or by a fine not exceeding $10,000, or both.
