Bison Open Season Saturday Against ECU

August 31, 2017

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist opens its first football season as a full NCAA member Saturday at noon when East Central visits Crain Family Stadium at the Hurt Athletic Complex for a game streamed nation-wide on ESPN3.

The game will be streamed on the ESPN app and at ESPN.com/watch. The Bison Radio Network also will carry the game on KGFF (AM 1450 and FM 100.9), in Oklahoma City and Norman on El Patron (FM 98.5), and in Tulsa on Chrome (FM 93.5). The game also is available on the iHeart Radio Network and at OBUBison.com/watch.

The Bison return 10 starters on offense, including school record-setting quarterback Dezmond Stegall, 1,000-yard All-Conference running back Isaiah Mallory and four offensive linemen.

Stegall's top seven targets from last season also are back this season to test an ECU defense lead by linebacker Camnick Campbell, who led the Tigers with 125 tackles last season. Josh Pettijohn led the Bison with 43 catches and 594 yards a year ago.

Defensive tackle Houston Tyler (47 tackles) heads up a defensive line that includes several key returners but few returning starters. He'll go up against an experienced offensive line from ECU that returns four starters.

OBU beat the Tigers in Ada last season, 36-34, in triple overtime after trailing 14-0 in the third quarter with Stegall throwing to Reece Gilbert for the game-winning two-point conversion.

General admission tickets are $10, while reserved bench seats (Sec. 1 and 3) are $20. A limited number of reserved chair back seats (Sec. 2) are available for $35. Fans who purchase tickets online prior to the game receive a 10 percent discount off the box office price.

The first 200 OBU students in attendance Saturday will receive a complimentary #MakeOurStand rally towel. In conjunction with the game, the Shawnee Lions Club will also be hosting a free mobile health screening event in the St. Anthony Surgery Center parking lot on the northwest corner of MacArthur and JD Kethley Rd.
