STEPHENSVILLE, TX. - Behind a 12 kill, 12 assist double-double from Kamra Jackson and 21 assists from Sariah Boney, Henderson State notched its first win of the 2017 season Friday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-19) victory over Southwest Baptist at the TexAnn Invitational in Stephensville, Texas.

SET ONE: Henderson got out to a quick start and took a 10-5 lead after a service ace from Zuzana Ondruskova, but the Bearcats answered back with a gradual 10-6 run to close the gap to 16-15. At that point, the Reddies took over, going on a 9-1 run to close the game 25-16 and take a 1-0 lead in the match. Violet Williams had three kills in the final nine points for Henderson and five kills total in the set.

SET TWO: With the score knotted at 10-10, the Reddies went on a 13-5 run over the next 18 points to grab a commanding 23-15 lead and all the momentum in the match. Henderson closed out the game 25-18 and were helped by 11 Southwest Baptist errors in the set.

SET THREE: Already in control of the match with a 2-0 lead, Henderson wasted no time, jumping out to an 11-4 advantage early. The Reddies kept the Bearcats at bay for the rest of the game, never letting Southwest Baptist within five points, as they cruised to a 25-19 win and a 3-0 match victory. Kamra Jackson had six kills in the set for Henderson.

GAME NOTES: Adrianna Hartmann, Ondruskova and Williams all finished with seven kills for the Reddies, while Danika Daum added 13 assists. Henderson finished with a hit percentage of .303 while holding Southwest Baptist to a hitting percentage of just .116.

10 a.m. vs. #18 Central Oklahoma

Zuzana Ondruskova had 21 kills and 11 digs in her Henderson State debut and Courtney Bolf added 14 kills and 23 digs, but the Reddies fell 3-1 on Friday morning to Central Oklahoma, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25, 16-25, in their season opener at the TexAnn Invitational in Stephensville, Texas.

Henderson State got off to a strong start against the No. 18 team in the nation in its season-opener, coming after the highly-ranked Bronchos out of the gates and winning the first set 25-20 to take a 1-0 lead. The Reddies had their chances in the next two sets, which were highly contested throughout, but fell just short in both, 25-23, to fall behind 2-1.

Despite falling behind, Henderson came out on fire in the fourth set, streaking out to an 8-1 advantage early. Central Oklahoma responded, though, with a massive 22-4 run, to seize a commanding 23-12 lead. The Reddies attempted to rally, winning four of the next five points, but it wasn't enough, as the Bronchos closed it out 25-16 to win the match 3-1.

Both Ondruskova and Bolf had strong opening-game performances for Henderson, as did libero Sydney Skelton, who racked up 28 digs in defeat.

Henderson will play two games again tomorrow as a part of the Tarleton Invitational. The Reddies face Rockhurst at 10 a.m. and Maryville at 3 p.m.
