Bison Take Second in Opener

EDMOND – Oklahoma Baptist placed second in the first men's cross country race of the season at the Central Oklahoma Land Run.

The Bison scored 63 points and edged Oklahoma City by one point.

Patrick Harris scored fifth with a time of 20:20, followed by Jacob Janzen in sixth at 20:36.

Rounding off the scoring squad was DeAngelo Robles in 16th at 21:02, Garrett Elmore in 17th at 21:20, and Jarrett Ellis in 19th at 21:11.

OBU placeholders were Nathan Crowson in 21st at 21:14 and Christ Lobaugh in 26th at 21:32. Rounding off the Bison team was Gerardo Tarango in 50th at 22:44.

Seven schools competed in the men's event, bringing a total of 69 runners.

Rogers State won the men's event with 25 points, followed by OBU at 63 and Oklahoma City at 64, Oklahoma Christian at 90, East Central at 151, Southern Nazarene at 180, and Northwestern Oklahoma at 230.

The Bison had a strong start today and will return to action next Saturday, September ninth, at the SWOSU Open.
