Men's Soccer Falls, 3-0, at Adams State to End Colorado Trip

ALAMOSA, Colo.– The Rogers State men's soccer team fell, 3-0, at Adams State on Sunday (Sept. 3) at the ASU Soccer Field. RSU went 1-1 during the opening weekend of the season in Colorado after the Cats started the season with a 2-0 victory at CSU-Pueblo on Friday (Sept. 1) night in Pueblo, Colorado.In the first half, the Hillcats seemed to have the edge in the play of the game, but the host Grizzlies were the ones to knock two goals in for a 2-0 lead after the first stanza.ASU went up 1-0 in the 12th minute when Carlos Castro scored on an assist from Marcus Wilson. The Grizzlies added the second tally right before halftime in the 43rd minute on a goal from Ruben Molinar.The navy and red held the advantage in shots in the opening period by the margin of 9-5; however, RSU was unable to capitalize on their two shots on goal.The Grizzlies scored their third goal early in the second half in the 51st minute for the 3-0 final score. ASU earned more opportunities in the second half with five shots, including two on goal. The Cats managed only two shots in the final 45 minutes.For the game, the total shots were fairly even with RSU earning a slight 11-10 edge, but ASU put more on target with a 5-2 lead in shots on goal.JuniorJake Simpsontotaled nearly half of the shots from the navy and red with a game-high five and one on goal.Walker Farrarstarted in goal for the Cats, allowing his first goals all season. He made two saves in the 90 minutes.The Hillcats return home for their home opener on Thursday (Sept. 7) against nationally-ranked Fort Hays State at 5 p.m. at Soldier Field.
