Alva husband and wife win Kiowa's Labor Day 5K Race

It was a comfortable 68 degrees during Kiowa's 33rd Annual Labor Day 5K Race that started near 8:30 a.m. Monday. However, listening to runners huff and puff as they ran by mid-way through the race, it was apparent the high humidity was a factor.
With a time of 16:24 (16 minutes, 24 seconds) Luis Chavez of Alva won the race in Kiowa for the second consecutive year. He beat his winning time in last year's 5K race, which was 16:49.
