Alva husband and wife win Kiowa's Labor Day 5K Race

Alva man Luis Chavez is the overall winner of Kiowa's Labor Day 5K Race. This is his second consecutive year to win the race in Kiowa.
It was a comfortable 68 degrees during Kiowa's 33rd Annual Labor Day 5K Race that started near 8:30 a.m. Monday. However, listening to runners huff and puff as they ran by mid-way through the race, it was apparent the high humidity was a factor.
With a time of 16:24 (16 minutes, 24 seconds) Luis Chavez of Alva won the race in Kiowa for the second consecutive year. He beat his winning time in last year's 5K race, which was 16:49.
