CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's soccer team opened the 2017 Heartland Conference schedule with a 2-0 win over Newman on Thursday (Sept. 8) at Soldier Field. With the win, the Hillcats moved to 3-0 on the season, their best start since 2010.
After a scoreless first half, the navy and red totaled two goals in less than 7 minutes to gain a 2-0 advantage midway through the second half. Daisy Cardona totaled her second goal in three games with a header that beat the goalkeeper to the far post for a 1-0 advantage in the 59th minute. Melissa Cardeneas earned the assist on the goal.
