The Alva Robotics Team met for an information session on Aug. 26 at the Alva Public Library. A group of enthusiastic students and parents met to discuss plans for the group to participate in the Heartland BEST robotics competition at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The competition involves building a robot to compete against teams from around the state.

At the meeting a potential work schedule and possible sites for construction of the robot were discussed. The next planning meeting has been scheduled for Sept. 11 at the conference room in the Alva Public Library at 3:30 p.m. This meeting will be open to any Alva middle school or high school student who is interested in joining the group. The team is also looking for adults to mentor and help with the media part of the competition. Participation in the group and in the competition is free.
