Anderson, Hale and Nelson log top-10 finishes individually; Lady Mulerider XC places 3rd at East Texas Shootout

COMMERCE, Texas – In just their second collegiate race, rookie runners Karly Anderson (Katy, Texas), Carley Hale (Panhandle, Texas), and Aaliyah Nelson (Katy, Texas) each recorded top-10 finishes in the 4K event on Friday evening at the East Texas Shootout and helped lead Southern Arkansas to a third-place finish overall amongst a small field at Centennial Park in Commerce, Texas.

OF NOTE
The trio of freshman in Anderson, Hale and Nelson each finished the race in under 16:00 minutes; marking career-highs for each runner as it was their first collegiate 4K run.
Anderson was the top runner for Southern Arkansas on Friday as she placed sixth in 15:52.10, exactly eight seconds back of a top-5 finish.
Hale was just over a second behind Anderson in 7th place at 15:53.80, while Nelson (high school teammate of Anderson) produced a ninth-place showing with a time of 15:57.20.
Sophomores Sierra Romero-Hearrell (16:09.00) and Emily Phillips (16:38.10) rounded out the scoring for Southern Arkansas in 13th and 15th place respectively.
