Lady Bison Second without Top Guns
September 10, 2017
WEATHERFORD – Oklahoma Baptist placed second in the Women's 5k race at the Southwestern Oklahoma State Open, an impressive feat with their top eight runners not competing.
Southwestern Oklahoma State took first with 26 points, followed by OBU at 56, Southern Nazarene at 63, Northwestern Oklahoma at 83, and USAO at 137.
There were five schools competing, with a total of 33 athletes.
Destinee Allen led the Lady Bison, placing fourth with a time of 20:40. Allison Derry closely followed in fifth, at 20:47, with Ashley Scrivner finishing 10th at 21:12.
Also for OBU, Sarah O'Bryan was 16th at 22:12, Britney Hammans was 21st at 23:02, and Ashley Ellis was 24th at 23:13.
The Lady Bison competed well without their top eight. Placing second with a squad of mostly freshmen is a good sign for the future of Lady Bison Cross Country.
Oklahoma Baptist's top eight will return to action in the Southern Stampede on Saturday, Sept. 16.
