Reddies Tied for First After Two Rounds at the Mule Invitational

Warrensburg, MO. -Led by the stellar play of reigning Great American Conference individual medalist Nick Shapiro, the Henderson State men's golf team shot a two-round score of 16-over-par 576 to climb to the top of the leader board on Monday evening at the Mule Invitational hosted by Central Missouri.The Reddies were in second place in the 20-team event following the first round of play with a team score of 287, but their score of 289 in round two was enough to push them into a tie at the top with GAC rival Arkansas Tech.Shapiro, who was 2-under-par for the day, leads the individual competition after carding an event-low round of 3-under-par 67 in the first 18 holes and then followed it up with a 1-over-par 71 in round two.Following closely behind Shapiro is Kevin Boutier, who shot 3-over-par 73 and 2-under-par 68 to finish the day tied for fourth overall with a total score of 1-over par 141. Both Shapiro and Boutier finished with six birdies on the day.Stuart Krogis third for Henderson thus far and tied for 32nd after shooting back-to-back 4-over-par 74's.Mitchell FordandCameron McRaerounded out the starting five for the Reddies, as both shot 151 for the day, with Ford shooting a low-round of 3-over-par 73 and McRae carding a low-round of five-over-par 75.As a team after two rounds, Henderson led the field in pars with 119 on the day and also finished with 21 birdies.The field at the Mule Invitational features all 10 teams that were selected for the 2017 NCAA Central Regional Championship, including 2017 national finalists Central Missouri, Arkansas Tech and Lindenwood.The third and final round of the Mule Invitational begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at the Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg, Missouri.
