WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Alimata Rabo netted four goals for the second time in her career as SWOSU Soccer rolled past West Texas A&M 6-0 on Thursday out at the Athletic Complex.
The Bulldogs never gave the Lady Buffs any time to breathe, jumping ahead 1-0 in the third minute of the match after an Olivia Butler long pass set up Rabo with a run down the middle of the field. After beating the WT goalie, she fired to the back of the net and SWOSU never looked back from there.
In the 20th minute it was again Rabo delivering, this time by herself after dribbling into the top of the box and kicking a line drive high and past an outstretched WT goalkeeper.
Scoring would continue in the half, as Sandra Nabweteme and Mikylin York both added goals into the mix. Nabweteme's coming off a pass from Rabo and York's on a high-arcing header after a rebounded free kick. Heading into the locker room, the Dawgs sported a 4-0 lead.
Nabweteme would help facilitate two more goals for SWOSU, picking up both assists on two more Rabo goals in the second half.
The Bulldogs outshot West Texas A&M just 17-11 on the afternoon, but 10-3 in shots on goal. Steffi Silvera got her first start guarding the net for SWOSU, blanking the Lady Buffs with three saves on the day. She and the rest of the defense earned their first shutout of the season.
Rabo's four goals now marks the second time in her career she has managed to score four times in a single match, with the other coming against Southwestern Christian last season back on Sept. 9, 2016. She now also becomes just the second player in Great American Conference history to have scored four goals in two separate games.
SWOSU (3-1) will hit the road next for its final non-conference match of the season against Angelo State down in Texas. GAC play will then kick off next Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the Athletic Complex when the Dawgs host rival Northwestern.
