September 21, 2017

On Sunday, Sept. 17, the Freedom United Methodist Church held the following services:

Shay and Jack Wilson lit the candles bringing in the Light of Christ

Prelude by Janell Reutlinger

Call to Worship led by Ronna Wilson

Hymn: “This Is The Day,” Debra Brown, song leader

Opening Prayer led by Dixie Stansberry

Scripture: Matthew 18:21-25

Children’s Lesson led by Pastor Paul McDowell on “Remembering” – Always remember that Jesus loves you.

The sermon topic was “Forgiving and Forgetting.” If you are in a damaging relationship it is all right to forgive, but Jesus does not intend for anyone to remain in an abusive relationship whether physical, emotional or psychological. If forgiveness does not bring reconciliation and healing there is nothing to suggest forgiveness is equal to allowing for perpetual cycles of abuse.

Affirmation of Faith led by Debra Brown

Hymn of Justifying Grace: “What A Friend We Have in Jesus”

Joys and Concerns: It was a blessing to have Johnnie Sue Olson in Sunday school and church this morning. Remember all those on our prayer list. Pray for those who have been in fires, hurricanes and earthquakes. Also, continue to pray for our country and our world.
