Donald Ray Johnson passed away September 21, 2017, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. He was born June 3, 1935, to James and Nettie (Broomhall) Johnson in Alva, Oklahoma.

Don grew up on a farm northwest of Alva. He graduated from Ferry High School in 1953.

He married Darla Jean Percival July 20, 1957. They had three children: Pam, Deanna and Tracy.

Don served two years in the U.S. army, spending one year in Germany.

Don spent the majority of his work life in the automotive parts business. He started as a deliveryman in Alva working his way up to regional manager relocating to Stillwater, Oklahoma. Don accepted a promotion to senior management in 1989 that moved the family to Memphis, Tennessee. Upon retirement he worked for the Memphis Public Schools driving a school bus for disabled children. After 24 years in Memphis Don and Darla returned to Stillwater.

Don truly loved his job as a bus driver. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, many sporting events and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife Darla of Stillwater; two daughters, Pam Frieden of Stillwater and Deanna and her husband Tony Heaton of Pensacola, Florida; son Tracy and his wife Rachel Johnson of Edmond; grandchildren Cody, Kelly and Bret Frieden; Kalee Richardson and Josh Heaton; Brayden and Camden Johnson; twin sister Donna Faye Dunning of Wichita, Kansas; four great-granddaughters; two sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wilbert, Harold and Junior; two sisters, Helen and Yvonne.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Countryside Baptist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity in Don's memory.
