Chandler police: 13-year-old had gun in backpack at school

CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) — Chandler police say a 13-year-old student was arrested at his junior high school after authorities learned he had a revolver and a box of ammunition in his backpack.
Police say the seventh-grader at San Tan Junior High School didn't threaten anyone at the school or brandish the gun before he was taken into custody Tuesday.
The teen was booked into a juvenile detention facility on suspicion of misconduct involving weapons, carrying a concealed weapon and disruption of an educational facility.
Police say the boy got the gun from his home.
