September 29, 2017

Colton Sanborn, an adult student from Cherokee, familiarizes himself with the new Tricaster used in the new video production control room of the Northwest Technology Center Alva digital design program.

Digital design students at the Northwest Technology Center's (NWTC) Alva campus now have some new and exciting opportunities available to them. In addition to several Canon DSLR cameras, a DJI Phantom 4 Pro Drone, a DJI Mavic Drone, a GoPro Hero Session and two DJI Osmo action cameras, students will now be able to learn about video creation and production as they use the new video production studio.

Students enrolled in the digital design program will learn about and serve in numerous capacities on the production team and staff including producer, director, floor manager, camera operator, anchor, video engineer, audio engineer, lighting director, writer, graphic artist, video director, CG (character generator) operator, and technical director.

Students will also learn about the pre-production, production and post-production processes as well as the distribution phase of video production. In addition to the equipment, students will learn how to use Adobe software such as Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.

NWTC was the recipient of a lottery grant from the State of Oklahoma for $149,987.50 that helped create the studio and purchase the equipment for both the Alva and the Fairview campuses of NWTC.

The new NWTC Alva Digital Design Video Production Control Room has undergone a major renovation. Two new career options are being offered through the digital design program as a result of this grant. They are video production and video editing. Tami Frascht is the instructor for the digital design program.

More information on the Digital Design program is available at http://www.nwtech.edu or by contacting NWTC at 580-327-0344.
