Students make their mark

Burlington Junior High and High School left their mark by wearing polka dots on International Dot Day. From left: Makayla McCullough, Harley Smart, Micheala McHenry, Caitlin Flackman, Sadie Crusinbery, Devon Perez, Hally Highfill, Kali Gardner, Kylee Wright, Anna Motycka, Abi Trujillo, Dylan Perez, Jared Peffly, Drake Peffly and Thayer Barton.

The yearbook staff has chosen a theme for the yearbook this year of "Make Your Mark." While researching the theme, the staff came across International Dot Day. This day began with a book by Peter H. Reynolds called "The Dot." The book and day are recognized to encourage kids to be courageous, confident and creative. International Dot Day is celebrated by over nine million people across the world. The celebration happens around Sept. 15. The yearbook staff provided teachers with papers so the children could express their creativity with dots, gave dot-themed cookies to the entire student body,...
