Mary edges Southern Nazarene 3-2 in overtime

HAYS, Kan. — Pedro Garcia scored his third goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as Southern Nazarene fell 3-2 to Mary in overtime.

The Pirates (3-4-1) scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick three minutes into overtime. The Crimson Storm (0-8-1) had 13 shots in the match, seven of those being on goal. Garcia netted the first goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 39th minute. The goal moved him into a tie for first in school history for career penalty kicks made.

Mary responded one minute later as Guilherme Zogbi had the equalizer goal just before halftime. SNU's Alan Armstrong notched his first goal of the season in the 64th minute on an assist from Christian Hernandez. As play entered the final 10 minutes of the game with the Storm leading 2-1, Mary's Zogbi scored again to tie the match at two. Joel McIlory then scored the game-winning goal for the Pirates in overtime.

Cutter Smith had three shots on goal for the Crimson Storm, and Corey Bieber had one. Jeff Ray totaled five saves on the night for SNU, as Ludvig Rhodin also recorded five saves for Mary.
