TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities in Tulsa say a man is dead following what police say was an attempted robbery in a south Tulsa neighborhood.

The shooting occurred around noon Sunday as a family was preparing to leave their residence northeast of Woodland Hills Mall.

Tulsa homicide Sgt. Dave Walker says the family, including a woman and two children, was confronted by someone described as "young" who attempted to force them back inside during a robbery attempt.
