Haring-Lovett Earns Defensive Award
October 4, 2017
SHAWNEE – Lara Haring-Lovett was named the Great American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week after helping Oklahoma Baptist to a pair of shut-out wins in league play last week. The conference office announced the honor on Tuesday afternoon.
Haring-Lovett, a native of Norman, played 178 out of a possible 180 minutes last week as the Lady Bison picked up clean sheets against rival Southern Nazarene and East Central. The sophomore defender helped OBU's defensive front hold the pair of opposing offenses to a combined 10 shots, while only three of those were shots on goal. It's the first time in Haring-Lovett's career to earn a conference weekly award.
Oklahoma Baptist has now had three of their four starting defenders earn the GAC Defensive Player of the Week honor in 2017. Overall, five different Lady Bison have earned a weekly award from the GAC this season.
The Lady Bison continue conference play when they host Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in a clash between the top two teams in the GAC.
