Alva man charged in September assault

An assault and battery charge was filed against an Alva man Wednesday, Oct. 4, after an incident that occurred on Sept. 7. Brian Ray Poggemeyer, 43, was charged with aggravated assault and battery, a felony, in Woods County District Court. This crime is punishable by up to five years in the penitentiary or up to one year in the county jail or by up to $500 fine, or both.
The arrest warrant for Poggemeyer was served on Wednesday. He was released on a bond continuation from an earlier charge. His next court appearance is set for Nov. 14.
