Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 to First Place Bison

October 8, 2017

ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State women's soccer survived a lopsided first half before surrendering two goals in a matter of 26 seconds midway through the second, and ended up dropping Saturday's road contest by a final score of 2-0.

The Rangers knew they had a tall task ahead as they travelled to Shawnee, Okla. to take on an Oklahoma Baptist squad that entered play without a loss in their past six games. Northwestern was riding a streak of their own, winning their last three against Harding, Oklahoma Christian and Southern Nazarene.

Five minutes into the game, Karla Lopez fired a shot at OBU keeper Emily Griffith, in what would turn out to be the Rangers only shot on goal on the afternoon.

Mesquite, Texas goaltender Kylee Loustaunau continued her string of outstanding play against the Bison, making six saves in the first half to keep Oklahoma Baptist off the board. Loustaunau was lifted in favor of junior Kylee Wallace who played the second half for the Rangers.

The Bison were able to maintain pressure on the black-and-red for most of the game, as the home team peppered the Rangers with 30 shots including 18 on goal. Northwestern was unable to capitalize on the few chances they did get, as two shots by Brittany Cirnigliaro and one by Calvonis Prentice missed wide of the goal in the second half.

Oklahoma Baptist opened the scoring in the 69th minute when Halle Hill netted a rebound past Wallace. The Bison wasted no time after the first goal, scoring again 26 seconds later when Ruth Hill picked up her seventh of the year.
