Fall armyworms impacting wheat development in Woods County

Wheat producers across Woods County have been battling fall armyworms for several weeks. Much of the wheat planted early for pasture has been treated to try and maintain a significant enough stand for grazing forage production. Recent reports suggest that even some of the later planted wheat that is just emerging is being impacted.

Producers need to check fields regularly after seedling emergence. Scout for fall armyworms by examining plants in several (five or more) locations in the field. Fall armyworms are most active in the morning or late afternoon. Look for “window paned” leaves and coun...
