Oklahoma Territory’s Congressmen – Part 3

Dennis Thomas Flynn served as Oklahoma Territory’s delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives for eight of the 17 years the territory existed.

Flynn first ran for Congress in 1890, but he lost. He came back to win in 1892 and 1894. After losing again in 1896, he won two more elections – in 1898 and 1900. Thus, his tenure in Congress consisted of two four-year stints, 1893-1897 and 1899-1903.

Flynn declined to run for a fifth term in 1902, and he retired from Congress. Thereafter, he practiced law in Oklahoma City while maintaining an interest in political affairs.
