Talk of the Town tour sold out

October 20, 2017

ACROSS FROM MUNICIPAL BUILDING – Former Alva mayor Arden Chaffee and his wife Nicki play the part of 1923 Alva Mayor Boyce and his wife.

The crisp fall weather was perfect for an afternoon hayride Sunday, Oct. 15. Tickets were sold out for the Talk of the Town event held by the Cherokee Strip Museum.

As they rode in comfort, patrons visited historic locations in downtown Alva while being informed and entertained by local residents portraying various characters instrumental to the town's growth.

The museum sold a book about Alva's history in conjunction with the tour. They sold all the copies available, but a second printing is planned. Those interested may call the museum to reserve a copy.

The costumes and props have been stored away, but the Talk of the Town will linger in the memories of those who enjoyed the tour.

THIS CURES ALL KINDS OF ILLS – Jim Scribner acts the part of one of the more colorful characters, Sneaky Pete, the snakeoil salesman.
