Denner Room opening celebrated at Cherokee Strip Museum

A Saturday reception in honor of Nancy Denner marked the opening of the Cherokee Strip Musuem exhibit showcasing her pageant highlights. She was named Miss Alva, Miss Oklahoma and second runner-up in the Miss America Pageant in 1957. The room features gowns, accessories and photos. Members of her family attending are, from left: Angie McGowan, Matt McGowan, Madeline McGowan, Holly Helvey, Michael Helvey, Mike McGowan, Nancy Denner McGowan, Shannon Helvey (seated), Christopher McGowan (seated on lap), Will McGowan, Nick Denner, Katie (Elliott) Davis (seated), Jonathan Bidwell, Michelle Tompkins, John Tompkins MD, Nancy Roberts, Michael Tompkins and Susan Davis Jordan.
